Exciting News

We had a few of our family owned businesses and even a family donate items for Project Graduation after our last update.

Wild Birds Unlimited has donated an iPad 2, Playstation 3, and a Blu-Ray player.  Thank you Stults family & Wild Birds Unlimited!!

Capra & Cavelli is donating 4-$50 gift certificates to their clothing store.  Thank you Sandy Gist!

Become a Member

The Class of 2012 Booster Club raises money and plans the all night graduation party. Our job as booster club members is to organize and help to fund that party. The graduation party is a drug and alcohol-free party which every class of 2012 graduate is invited to attend. It is customary to give away raffle prizes like TV’s, dorm refrigerators, and digital cameras. Some of these items are donated but most need our funding. If every one of our Class of 2012 graduating families paid their annual membership dues we would be set! Our Class of 2012 students, along with their faculty sponsor, Ms. Pat Maney, are in charge of planning and raising funds for their prom.

To become a member of the Class of 2012 Booster Club, please fill out the Class of 2012 Project Graduation Membership Form and mail your check to the address on the form. Every student (AND parent) attending 2012 Project Graduation MUST sign and return the Liability/Permission form. 

Monthly Project Graduation (Booster Class of 2012) meetings scheduled for the second Thursday of every month at 7pm in the Choir Room at Bowie.

Booster News

Our monthly booster club meeting on Thursday, February 9th will be a field trip!  We welcome all parents to come along.  We are meeting at Dave & Busters at 6:30 to firm up our entertainment plans.  We already know we want to have several casino tables and flip books.  Now we need to pin down some more entertainment; possibly a magician or a comic, maybe hypnotist.  If you have ideas or would like to share in the discussion please join us.  If you would like to carpool send me an email: cfite@austin.rr.com

Rent your tuxedo for Prom AND Mr. Bulldog at any south Austin Mens Wearhouse (I recommend the one off Brodie behind BJs Restaurant) and Bowie Project Graduation 2012 receives $5!  In prior years this donation has added up to many hundreds of $$$!

Class News

Ms. Maney, our class sponsor has asked me to spread the word about their fundraiser.  The seniors will be selling Valentine Grams and delivering them during classes.  But, they need donations of cash, conversation hearts and small boxes of chocolates.  These items can be dropped off in the Bowie office labeled Ms. Maney.  Deadline for dropping items off is Friday, February 10th.

Also, the class will be ordering their FINAL senior shirts and will sell them the last 2 weeks in Feb. for $20.00 ea.  They have the students’ names on the back; first names only.  The most popular names are listed larger and first; down to the least popular names in small font at the bottom.  Similar to some "ACL" shirts.

May 3rd Senior Meeting/Breakfast @ Bowie 9-11am Pick up Cap & Gown This is one BIG senior morning.  It’s a mandatory meeting that all seniors attend.  The meeting discusses proper behavior at graduation and how to pick up their actual diploma since they will get a “pretend” one when they walk across the stage.

June 2nd- 3rd Project Graduation - Meet at Bowie to take buses to Dave & Busters All night lock-in where graduates earn prizes, play games and celebrate in a drug free, alcohol free environment.  Must pay fee of $125 after January 1st and turn in signed permission/liability form.

The Booster Class of 2012 is selling out of leftover merchandise to be able to have more prizes for Project Graduation ‘12. If you are interested in purchasing items for your booster club to sell, please contact Crystal at cfitetx@gmail.com

Donations

We are currently looking for donations from our generous families of goods or services to give our graduating seniors during Project Graduation night festivities. For example…if you own a car wash perhaps you could donate some free car washes.  Perhaps your family would like to donate an IPod or restaurant gift card to the cause.  Whatever you or your business might be able to contribute please contact Crystal Fite at cfitetx@gmail.com.  Businesses will get listed on our website and blasted in our yahoo group emails to 1,024 email addresses!  Of course cash donations are tax deductible…

Need help getting seniors to write their college essays?

Send them to the College Essay Coach -- Diana Dawson, mother of a Bowie graduate, award-winning writer and University of Texas journalism lecturer.  She will help them express and organize their thoughts about a topic, critique the rough draft and polish the final version. Diana will donate 10 percent of her fee for every Bowie Class of 2012 student she coaches to Project Graduation.  For more information, contact her at dianadawson@austin.rr.com  or 282-0256.

Senior Photos benefit Project Graduation

Desiree Keelty Photography will be supporting Bowie 2012 Project Graduation through a donation of $40.00 for every photo session.  Desiree has created a special Senior photo package of $250.00 which will include the following:

  • 2 Locations within the Austin city limits
  • DVD slideshow of portrait session set to your favorite music (perfect for Facebook/ Email sharing)
  • Personalized senior book
  • 60 Wallets

Along with the package, if you want the full resolution images it will be another $150. These will be fully retouched images. The DVD that is included will be all the best images set to music that you can copy and share with friends and family, It will also have a link for email sharing. If you don't want the 60 wallets, you can exchange them for a 10x20 or 11 x 14 high quality metallic print.  The senior book is a 12 page soft cover book that contains up to 24 pictures. You can also upgrade to a nice leather bound if you wish!

GRAPHIC DESIGNER SUPPORTS 2012 PROJECT GRADUATION

Bruce Grant, of Mudcat Design, will be donating 20% of his fee to 2012 Project Graduation for anyone who uses his services to create Senior yearbook ads,or for an ad built to appear in any Bowie program or publication. 

Bruce has been a  graphic designer, painter & illustrator for almost 30 years.  He will give you a beautifully designed, professional ad and Project Graduation will benefit. He's happy to work with families, students and businesses to create their ads. Bruce has been a proud Bowie parent since 2001, and has designed many things for the Bowie community including the annual Lacrosse program, The Gary Fowler Memorial Golf Tournament program, club logos and other projects. 

He is also available for hand painted or digital portraits of your students whether seniors, athletes in action, musicians, or anyone else. It's a great way to capture the memories of your student's years at Bowie. These would make great graduation gifts.

For the Bowie community, Bruce is offering a flat fee of $40 for any size ad. Portrait fees will vary and 20% will also be donated.
