Bowie Counseling Center

The Counseling Center is located in the west wing of the Administration building.  The Center's hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:45 pm. The Center is closed on school holidays. The counselors' secretary, Kathy Ashburn, can be reached at 414-7318.

James Bowie High School is recognized as one of the most academically competitve high schools in Texas.  College recruitement representatives begin contacting us in the summer to arrange their visits to talk to YOU!

Just a reminder that you need to be checking your Naviance accounts to sign up to attend these visits in the College and Career Center.  Log in to your Naviance account.  Click on the "Colleges" tab, and click on "View all upcoming college visits."

You may attend during a free period or your lunchtime without signing up in Naviance.  If you have a class at the time that the rep is here, you must print the confirmation page as the hall pass for your teacher.    The teacher has the authority to ask you to stay in class if you would miss a review, an exam or a lab.  We can always keep handouts for you to pick up later.

With our new block schedule, it is impossible to arrange these visits only during lunches, as we have done in the past.  This is a new endeavor under this system.

All events take place in the College and Career center unless otherwise noted.

Naviance Family Connection

Naviance Family Connection is available for all grade levels. 

To enter the site:
Email (username)= (Upper case S)(student id number)
Password= (Upper case first letter of last name)(birthdate in MMDDYY)(lower case s)

We encourage underclassmen to explore the site, begin creating a resume on the resume link and investigate events the College Center sponsors.  All grade levels are welcome to the Career Series.  Seniors and under special circumstances, the juniors, are welcome to attend the college visits scheduled at Bowie. The college search engines and college compare are useful tools!  The COIN survey is also a great resource for 9th-12th graders.  All email correspondence with families from the College Center will be sent on family connection. 

Please check to make sure your email and the student email is accurate.  There is an edit function to make changes.
