Parent Participate

Instructions for signing up

Parent Participate is the process established by AISD by which parents can access some of their child's school records. They can access records such as course history, class schedule, some grades (6 week grades), and attendance records.  

How do parents access these records?

Parents should go to  https://access.austinisd.org/, click on the Parents link, and follow instructions to initially register to begin the process.  Once parents have successfully completed this process they are issued a pending notice by AISD via email.

Next step:

Bowie HS issues preliminary approval to parents - issued via email.  Parents should wait to receive confirmation from Bowie HS staff before coming to Bowie. We will notify parents on a timeline that we can efficiently manage the process to everyone's benefit.

Next step:

Parent comes to Bowie and provides us with a photo ID so we may verify and issue approval (via computer) to enable access to the records identified above.

When will Bowie initiate this process so that our parents can have this access?

This program was implemented during the 2006-2007 school year. So, if you are a parent of a Bowie student you can have this access now.  Communications will be sent to parents via PTSA newsletters, PTSA website and JBHS website.

These Bowie staff members will be able to answer some questions and provide you additional information if you should have questions about Parent Participate:  Howard Clarey, Ann Thomas, Genette Sagesar, Brenda Powell, Sandy Mark, Bettye Ferguson, Karen Zimmerman, Jodi Barret, Marilu Gogonas, Kathy Ashburn, Patty Weaver, Russ Jones, AJ Honenes, Ellen Seals, Larry Britton, Jorge Luis Rodriguez.

Student Release Procedures

Parents and students, please note that there are specific procedures in place for releasing students during the day. Please read the outline of this procedure here.  It is always advisable to send a note in with your child in the morning, if you know they will be leaving during the school day. Parents, if you are picking up your child for an appointment, please ensure that you allow extra time in your schedule to come into the office, sign your child out, and show your photo ID.

Cell Phone Policy

Parents, please review the cell phone policy at http://www.jbhs.org/policies.htm.   The administration is finding an increased usage in text messaging during class and during the school day.  Teachers are using valuable instruction time enforcing the cell phone policy instead of teaching.  Please talk to your student and help to reinforce this policy.

Volunteering

Junior Achievement

Volunteer with youth in your community to ensure they have a bright future. Junior Achievement of Central Texas needs volunteers from all walks of life to teach career exploration and financial literacy at Bowie High School during the school day. All training and program materials available free of charge. No prior teaching experience needed. For more information call Christine Kempff at (512) 499-8025 or email ckempff@jacentex.org.

PTSA

There are many volunteer opportunities for PTSA members.  The best way to volunteer is to fill out a volunteer form.
