James Bowie High School 2010-2011 Profile
Located on 60 acres in southwest Travis County, James Bowie High School serves over 2800 students in grades 9 through 12. Since opening in the fall of 1988, it is the largest of Austin Independent School District's High Schools with 200 faculty and staff members in 160 classrooms and labs. Bowie is a comprehensive, public high school offering college preparatory classes, Advanced Placement coursework, foreign languages, fine arts, Air Force JROTC, numerous athletics programs, and career and technology programs--including Culinary Arts, Hotel/Resort Management, Agricultural Science, and Computer Technology. Texas Monthly magazine ranked Bowie as a 5-star school, and the school has received numerous Gold Performance and Recognized School Awards from the Texas Education Agency.
