Cross Country Successes…
A big congratulations to our teams as they competed in the 2017 District XC Championships. The teams came out with District titles in the 5 divisions that we entered. The team has worked hard this season with very early morning practices. They will now compete at Regionals in Arlington with our Varsity runners on October 23rd. The Varsity Girls won the District Title for the 3rd year in a row and will be advancing to Regionals- Morgan Kos, Katherine Terracina, Ashlyn Smith, Claire Meyer, Kendall Johnson, Jessica Rodriguez-Nino, and Ellie Cemer. The JV Boys and JV Girls are District Champs. The JV Girls earned a perfect score of 15, which means our top 5 runner with that score were 1st-5th place and they swept the top 7 places. Seth Leifheit will advance to Regionals as an individual by placing 5th overall in the Varsity Boys race with a time of 17:31 in his 5K.
The Dispatch Nominated for Prestigious National Award…
The Dispatch (2016-2017 school year) has been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in the country, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown Award. There are only 59 schools across the United States and our affiliated territories (among 1000s of entries) who were nominated for this award. Keep in mind that only 11 schools in Texas were nominated and we were the only school in AISD to be nominated. Keep on reading The Dispatch and see what our students are up to!
