Orchestra All-State Results…
At the All-State Orchestra auditions, students submit a recording of eight different tracks and audition against every student in the State for two days. Out of the 158 cellos who auditioned, Andre Plackis finished 23rd making the All-State Orchestra as a sophomore. Out of the 317 violins who auditioned, Kathryn Park finished 86th. For Kathryn, this makes her a four year All-Stater. This is a giant accomplishment that very few students actually achieve.
James Bowie Outdoor Performing Ensemble Earns 13th in Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional
Bands of Bowie's Outdoor Performing Ensemble traveled to San Antonio to compete against 68 marching bands at the Bands of America Super Regional. Many of the competitive bands are multiple time state UIL champions, national finalists, and a few are even Grand National champions. Bowie performed in the Preliminary in the Alamo Dome and advanced to Finals with a score of 90.675. The band finished 13th in the Finals for its performance of "...and then I saw the sky" with music including works by composers Claude Debussy, John Adams, Elliott Goldenthal and Ottorino Respighi.
