Bowie Blast -- Week of March 3

We are proud of our Bulldogs and encourage teachers and coaches to submit news to Mr. Robinson's office!

​Girls Soccer: Congrats on the wins over Anderson! The JV won 7-0, and the Varsity won 6-3 with Kiara Gonzales scoring 4 goals, and Megan Devaney and Addy Lemoine both scoring a goal each.

UIL Choir: They had a GREAT weekend with the choir students who were performing at the UIL Solo & Ensemble Vocal Contest this Saturday. Every single one of them received a SUPERIOR (First Division) Rating!!! Twenty-two students advance to the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest, and we received 54 medals over all!

Presidential Service Award: Congratulations Amanda Palecek on receiving the Presidential Volunteer Service Award! She completed 250+ volunteer service hours, earning the gold level honor.

Vision and Voice Poetry Contest: Bowie dominated by taking top spots in 9th, 11th and 12th grades. 9th grade: Andrea Hasenbein with her poem "Accidental List," 11th grade: Riley Hugheswith her poem "The Difference," 12th grade: Amy Shreeve with her poems "Hubris at 35,000 feet".

Silver Stars: Placed 4th overall at the Crowd Pleasers Austin Showcase in the last show of the season. Solo Finalist- Elizabeth Shymkiw (5th Runner Up), Gabby D'Angelo (1st Runner Up) and Kristin Hauck (WINNER)

UIL Ready Writing: Emily Leeke represented the Bowie Ready Writing team at the invitational meet in Buda. This was her first time competing in Ready Writing at the high school level, and her essay won first place!

UIL Social Studies: Ryan Noser, Alex Paulson, Shane Valentine and William Weber placed first in their event over content of The Race Beat: The Press, The Civil Rights Struggle, and the Awakening of a Nation at the invitational meet in Buda.

Track: Track season has officially begun at the Bastrop relays. Varsity boys finished 2nd and Varsity girls finished 3rd. Both the JV boys and girls won 1st place in their divisions. Varsity top performance was Clair Meyer finishing 1st in the 1600 & 3200 meter runs. Other top runners were: Abbey Smith, Austyn Keelty, Alexis Guzman, Kennedy Hartman & Paige Oldham. Ashley Salas and Lydia Standage were two of the JV standouts. Outstanding performances for the boys team from Ethan Dougherty winning both the high jump and pole vault and finishing second in the discus. The boys 4x100 and 4x200 teams also brought home gold medals. The teams consisted of Kasim Gonzales, Ethan Duncan, Christian Walker, Terrance Durst, Andres Infante and Avery Lopez.

UIL Accounting: The team won first place with each member taking the top places; Anna Esaka 1st, Carolina Govea 2nd, Andrew Leseth 3rd and Talia Hanley 4th at the invitational meet in Buda.

JROTC: The JROTC Drone Racing Team took 2nd place in the Large Drone category at the regional competition held at Del Valle High School. The JROTC Rocketry Team brought home trophies for 1st place in 35 yard spot landing and 3rd place in both 35yd and 70 ydspot landing in their competition.

Wrestling: Aylen Vivar earned a place as the state runner up and a member of the All-State Wrestling team.
