Bowie Blast -- Week of March 10

We are proud of our Bulldogs and encourage teachers and coaches to submit news to Mr. Robinson's office!

Visual Arts: 134 visual art students participated in the Region 13 Visual Arts Scholastic Event in San Marcos. Students were interviewed and critiqued on their original artworks. 126 of those students scored in the top category and earned a medal. Drew McDonald, Chance Yousef, Viviane Harle, Kate Scarboro and Ana Marirena advanced their artworks to the State VASE competition.

Congratulations to all artists!

Orchestra: The Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras participated in the annual UIL Full Orchestra Concert and Sight-reading Contest. The Philharmonic earned an overall rating of Superior earning them the coveted sweepstakes award. They were the ONLY orchestra in the Non-Varsity category for both 5A and 6A to earn a sweepstakes. The Symphony closed out the day as the ONLY orchestra in the Varsity category for 6A Orchestras to earn a sweepstakes.

Forensics: The Bowie Forensics Team took top honors at the Heart of Texas National Qualifying, taking eight national spots. We left the tournament with the highest number of students qualified from one school. Qualifying for Nationals 2019: Amy Shreeve in Senate Congressional Debate, Ashlyn Dahl in House Congressional Debate, Brianna Rodriguez in House Congressional Debate, Luke Evans in Dramatic Interpretation, Kaedon Solana in Humorous Interpretation, Jaden Davis and Connor Snow in Duo Interpretation, Tate Weston in Lincoln Douglas Debate

Girls Soccer: The JV won 7-0 and the Varsity won 8-0 over Akins. Hannah Erb scored a hat-trick/3 goals and had 2 assists. Kiara Gonzales scored 2 goals, and Katelyn Dill, Megan Devaney, and Bergen Bible each scored a goal.
