Bowie Blast -- Week of Nov. 3

We are proud of our Bulldogs and encourage teachers and coaches to submit news to Mr. Robinson's office.

Bowie Cyberdawgs: The Cyberdawgs competed on Saturday, October 26 in the Cyberpatriots Round 1 competition. Cyberpatriots tasks students with finding and fixing vulnerabilities in operating systems. Students learn multiple operating systems, networking, and security in order to compete with other high schools and organizations.

This is a brand new team for Bowie and only 3 of 6 members were able to compete in the competition, but despite that, the team earned a preliminary score of 226 out of 300 points. This was a great accomplishment given the time restrictions and newness of the team. The following 9th grade students competed: Ethan Menell, Ethan Smith and Mang Nilian. Great job, Cyberdawgs!!

Bowie Speech & Debate: The Bowie Speech and Debate team competed at the Austin High School State Qualifier the weekend of October 26. Bowie had another student quality for state, Erin Everette in Program Oral Interpretation! The following students placed as follows: Tournament Champions - Haley Pousson and Riley McCue in Duet Acting, Elliot Crunk in Informative Speaking, and Cristian Abarca and Nikihil Weerakoon in Novice Public Forum Debate; 2nd place - Kamryn Morales in Dramatic Interpretation; 3rd place - Aidan Garcia and Brennon Zavaleta in Duet Acting , Haley Pousson and Alyssa Shumaker in Duo Interpretation, Arlo Craft in Dramatic Interpretation, Erin Everette in Program Oral Interpretation; 4th place - Sydney Reinhart and Kamryn Morales in Duo Interpretation, Elliot Crunk in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking; 5th place - William Webber in Congressional Debate, Alex Paulson in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking; Quarterfinalist (top 8) in Public Forum Debate - Charlie Starr and Conner Williams.
