Bowie Blast -- Week of Jan. 19

Wrestling: Last weekend, the Bowie wrestling team competed in the toughest tournament in the area and they had multiple Bulldawgs receive medals competing against 50 other high schools from around the state. These wrestlers placed as follows: Zyah Cajuste - 2nd, Elena Moreno - 2nd, Tye Frnka (Franka) - 3rd, Jireh (Gee-ray) Vivar - 3rd, and Olivia Moreno - 3rd.
The highlight of the tournament was our Lady Dawgs finishing 3rd out of 48 other Girls’ teams! We are so proud of all the wrestlers that competed and represented Bowie with class.
Girls Soccer: Both JVB and JVA Soccer girls played in a tournament last weekend. Both teams walked away with three victories and one tie. The Varsity girls soccer opened district play last Saturday at Lake Travis. While we didn't win, we played hard the entire game. On Tuesday, the teams had a clean sweep over Del Valle. The JVB won 3-0, JVA won 1-0, and the Varsity won 4-0 with goals scored by Addie Lemoine, Tricity Esparza, Megan Devaney, and Victoria Green. Great job ladies! Come out and support our Lady Dawgs Soccer teams!!
Boys Basketball: Great job to the team for defeating Lake Travis 56-46 this past week!! Bowie is 18 and 6 and 4 and 3 in District play.
Relections: The PTSA congratulated two Bowie students for advancing to state-level judging in the 2019-20 Reflections program! This year's theme is Look Within. Tala Al-Sayyed's Reflections entry, 'The Mind Face' and Ty Jones's Reflections entry, 'Smoke and Mirrors', has advanced to state-level judging. This is an exciting achievement as nearly 60,000 students participate in the program annually and less than 3% of those advance to Texas PTA. Final results will be announced on March 15 via the Texas PTA website. Great job and congratulations!!
