Bowie Blast -- Week of Feb. 9

We are proud of our Bulldogs and encourage teachers and coaches to submit news to Mr. Robinson's office!

Over the first weekend and week in February, several of our Bowie students represented our school in many different ways and accomplished so much!

Mountain Bike Team: The Bowie Mountain Bike Team raced in the state-wide Tangle in Troy and placed 2nd overall as a team! Congratulations to the following top-10 finishers in their respective divisions: Varsity Girls – Retta Johnson 6th Place, Varsity Boys – Andre Kachkine 9th Place, JV 1 Boys – Ethan Doucette 1st Place, JV 2 Boys – Jacob Ankele 5th Place, Freshmen Boys – Tyler Peterson 4th Place, Andrius Velez 7th Place, Jake Reiman 8th Place and Dylan Keefer-Bornsen 10th Place. Way to go, DAWGS!!

FFA: Veterinarian Science placed 5th overall with Mark Fattouh placing 1st in the individual category! The Floral team placed 4th overall. Great job!

Fishing: The Bowie Fishing team qualified for Nationals!! Great job and good luck at Nationals!!

Soccer: The girls soccer teams played Austin High. The JVB team won 9-0, JVA won 5-0, but the Varsity had a loss of 1-2. On Tuesday they played Lehman and the JV won 8-0, but the varsity came up short with a defeat of 0-1. Keep up the great work!!

Lacrosse: Congratulations to the Lady Dawgs Lacrosse teams for going 6-0 at the ATX TuneUp tournament! The JV team defeated Vandegrift, Austin High and St. Michael's and the Varsity team had wins over St. Michael's, Cedar Park and Westlake. Way to go, ladies!

JV Tennis: The team won multiple trophies at their tournament in Round Rock as follows: 2nd place line A boys doubles, 1st place line B boys doubles, 2nd place line B girls doubles, and 3rd place boys line B singles. Great job, JV Tennis!

Speech & Debate: Members of the speech and debate team competed at the Westlake Chaparral Star state qualifying tournament. The team had many finalists, including NEW STATE QUALIFIERS in: Duo Interpretation - Alyssa Shumaker and Haley Pousson, Duet Acting - Aidan Garcia and Tristan Rath, and Humorous Interpretation - Riley McCue. Great job on these accomplishments!!
