#BowieCares began during the 2018-19 school year to provide toiletries, healthy snacks and other personal care or school supply essentials to students in need by working directly with Bowie's Counseling staff and our in-school store, The Kennel. Modeled on a similar program at a large Austin high school, #BowieCares aims to support students and reduce need for teachers to spend their own money to help students, many of whom are living at or below the poverty level for a family of four, which describes approximately 300 students enrolled at Bowie.
