The Dispatch Wins National Journalism Award… The Dispatch, our student newspaper, has won yet another national publication award. The paper has been named All-Southern by the Southern Interscholastic Press Association. The geographic region SIPA covers is basically the southeastern quarter of the United States and has members from 15 states.

Earning All-Southern placed us in the top 5-8% of publication members who entered the competition. It is my understanding that about 300 schools are rated. The judge wrote, "You have many strengths in this paper, writing is the real strength in this publication. Your opinion pages are very strong and the artwork enhanced the pages. I loved the way in which all of your shots show student’s expressions and faces, the boulder photos (issue 2 page 16) were especially strong, communicating emotion and energy. The Boxing photos were strong as well. Overall your design is easy to read and very functional."

Boys Basketball Ends Strong Season…

Congratulations and applause to the Boys JV Basketball Team and to Coach Thompson, for winning District. The JV team had a season record of 20 wins and 3 losses - and a district record of 9 wins and 1 loss!
