Bowie Blast -- Week of Dec 17

Girls Basketball: The lady dogs recently took on district opponent Del Valle. It was a clean sweep for freshmen A, B, and JV. Varsity concluded the evening with a 63-23 win. CyberDawgs: On October 23rd and November 13th, Bowie High School's Cyberpatriot team (the "Cyberdawgs") competed in rounds 1 and 2 of the high school Cyberpatriot competition. The combined scores from those competitions put the Cyberdawgs into the Gold tier of the state round, which will be held on December 11th. Congratulations to competition team members Ethan Menell, Jeremy Frey, Caden Laird, Max Muzhy, Luke Ferrara, and Yash Tate with thanks to faculty advisor Kris Maniscalco! Dispatch: The Columbia Scholastic Press Association has named the Dispatch as one of its Crown finalists for 2020-21. Results will be announced and presented at the CSP ceremonies in March 2022. Yearbook: Two days and two awards for Bowie Yearbook! The Lone Star 2021, tbd, was selected as a finalist for both a Crown from CSPA and a Pacemaker from NSPA - only 39 other high schools in the country can say the same. Go Bowie journalists! All-Region Band: Congratulations to the following students that earned a spot in the All-Region Band. These are record results for Bowie High School. Congratulations to these talented students! 1st chair performers 7 students AREA Band (chance to make state) 33 students Region TOP Band 24 students Region 2nd Band 35 students Region District Band 28 students TOTAL All-Region Band 87 students!!!!! (A full list of students can be found on the Bowie Blast News link ) Speech and Debate Team: Recently members competed at the Dripping Springs High School TFA State Qualifying tournament. Dramatic Interpretation 2nd place- Bella Barkkume in Dramatic Interpretation 3rd place- Javier Lozano in Dramatic Interpretation 4th place- Amelia Cook in Dramatic Interpretation Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate 3rd place in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate- Olivia Baird Duet Acting 3rd place- Gabe Watts and Lucas Wilcox in Duet Acting 4th place- Javier Lozano and Zach Kohlmyer in Duet Acting 5th place- Amelia Cook and Bella Barkkume in Duet Acting 6th place- Lola Dobies and Milo McKinney in Duet Acting Also, last weekend the team competed at the University of Texas at Austin TFA and NIETOC qualifier. The tournament is a national-level tournament with thousands of competitors. Big congratulations to Amelia Cook for placing in the top 12 in the tournament and getting a bid to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions and to Bella Barkkume for making quarterfinals (top 24).
