Bowie Blast -- Week of Feb. 10

We are proud of our Bulldogs and encourage teachers and coaches to submit news to Mr. Robinson's office!

Mountain Biking: On Feb. 3, many Bulldogs competed in the NICA Mountain Bike race in Troy, Texas. All raced hard and several garnered top 10 results. Everyone’s efforts assisted in claiming first place over all other mountain bike teams in Texas that weekend.

Varsity Girls: Alexis Bobbitt 1st JV Girls: Emily Doucette 6th

Freshman Girls: Claire Cox 8th

Varsity Boys: Austin Peterson 1st, Logan Poore 3rd, Colby Pearson 6th, Andre Kachkine 9th

JV Boys I: Grant Clark 5th, Ryan Wood 6th, Greyson Offerman 7th, Anton Birt 8th, JV Boys II:Ethan Wood 7th Sophomore Boys: Angus McKenzie 4th

Freshman Boys: Ryan Yellitz 7th

Girls Basketball: Lady dogs lost a tough one to Westlake and finish second district. They will play the first round of playoffs Monday be Smithson Valley at Canyon Lake High school. Good luck Lady Dawgs!

Girls Soccer: The girls soccer teams all defeated Austin High on February 1. The freshmen won 9-0, JV won 7-1, and Varsity won 3-0 with goals scored by Rheanna Reyes, Kiara Gonzales, and Naya Tillisch. And, a huge shout out goes to Kirstyn Dill for a phenomenal performance in the goal box keeping Austin High off the scoreboard.

The Dispatch: For the second straight year, they have been named an All-Southern newspaper by the Southern Interscholastic Press Association. Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Circle winners for http://thedispatchonline.net for this year were: Shelby Papst - 1st in the nation for Headline Writing, Victoria Newell - 2nd Secondary coverage Abby Ong - 3rd Personality Profile Preston Rolls - 3rd Photography Portfolio Cara Andres, Mo Orr and Preston Rolls - Certificate of Merit (honorable mention) in Photo Slideshow for "No Place for Hate"

Speech & Debate: Results for Hays TFA State Qualifying Tournament on February 2nd. New State Qualifiers: Camille Zamora in Humorous Interpretation, Riley McCue in Humorous Interpretation, Alyssa Shumaker and Riley McCue in Duo Interpretation, Amy Shreeve and Tate Weston in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking. Individual Results: 1st in Humorous Interpretation- Camille Zamora, 1st in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking- Amy Shreeve, 2nd in Humorous Interpretation- Riley McCue, 3rd in Duet Acting- Camryn Gonzalez and Haley Pousson, 3rd in Duo Interpretation- Riley McCue and Alyssa Shumaker, 4th in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking- Tate Weston, 4th in Congressional Debate- Conner Williams, 5th in Duo Interpretation – Kaia Pierce and Sydney Reinhart, 6th in Informative Speaking- Amelia Crawford and 7th place in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking- Alex Paulson.

Swimming & Diving: At the Regional championship in Mansfield, the team had a fantastic meet and most posted lifetime best times. The Bowie girls finished 6th overall and the Bowie boys had a strong 10th place finish. Congratulations to our STATE BOUND swimmers and diver. The state competition will be held at UT on 2/15-16. Girls 200 Medley Relay - First place (Arianna Lax, Brooke Simpson, Caroline Myers and Delaney Anthony), Diving- Boys - First Place- Alekzandr Popper, 100 fly- Arianna Lax, 500 Free - Second Place - Gavin Moak , 100 Breast- Brooke Simpson, Girls 400 Free Relay - Arianna Lax, Kaitlyn McDaniel, Delaney Anthony and Brooke Simpson
