Bowie Blast - Week of Sep 24

Band:

Congratulations to the Bowie High School Outdoor Performing Ensemble for 2 outstanding performances at the Bands of America Regional Championship last weekend. The band advanced to finals, finishing in 10th place, in arguably the most competitive regional in the United States.

Bowie Model UN Results:

Three Bowie students competed in the Austin High model UN tournament last weekend. Ethan Ordaz represented Portugal on the sustainable fashion committee, Ashley Fusilier represented U.S. Sen. Steve Daines on the crisis on the southern border committee, and Zoe Pool represented Kyrgyzstan on the biodiversity in agriculture committee where she was awarded honorable delegate.


Speech and Debate Team:

Last weekend, members of the Bowie Speech and Debate Team competed at the virtual TFA State Qualifier hosted by Anderson HS. The team did exceptionally well overall and Individual Finalists included:

Tournament Champion in Informative Speaking- Caroline Rasmussen

Tournament Champion in Humorous Interpretation- Jadon Demetri

2nd place in Dramatic Interpretation- Amelia Cook

2nd place in Informative Speaking- Hannah Yak

2nd place in Humorous Interpretation- Bella Barkkume

3rd place in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate- Wolfie Richardson

3rd place in Dramatic Interpretation- Javier Lozano

4th place in Dramatic Interpretation- Lucas Wilcox

4th place in Humorous Interpretation- Nadia Petru

5th place in Humorous Interpretation- Lola Dobies

6th place in Dramatic Interpretation- Bella Barkkume

6th place in Humorous Interpretation- Lucas Wilcox


Cross Country Team:

Cross Country competed at the McNeil Invitational last Saturday. The Girls ran a strong race and were led by Sophomores- Parker Seely and Parker Ledford. Other standouts included Junior Abby Alsup and Freshman Brook Waldman, both of whom had PRs!

The boys had strong performances from Nick Manire, Zack Munger, Zach Kehler, Evan McGregor, Rohan Dharwadker, and Adrian Castillo!


Swim and Dive Team:

Last week the Bowie Swimmers & Divers competed in their first official meet against Westlake, Lake Travis, and Hays. Sophomore diver, Anabel Vohl, placed 4th with a score of 142.25.

Last Friday, The Swim Team competed against Hays, Westlake, and Lake Travis. The girls placed second behind Westlake and the boys swim team set the tone for the season and won overall. Congrats to all, especially our “Swimmers of the Meet” Kylie Castillo & Luke Kauffman!
